Remember waht he did with the 3rd simphony.

...called Taking Sides - Der Fall Furtwaengler. It is done in a splendid way and it shows the complexity of the issue and also helps one understand both Furtwaengler's decision to stay in Germany and the motives of the American major who was interrogating him.

And Hermann Levi, the son of a Rabbi, conducted the premiere of Parsifal. Wagner's antisemitism is a complex issue, and in many respects a contradictory element of his personality.

Yes, he was an anti-Semite, and his wife Cosima no less, she was extremely opposed to Gustav Mahler's being appointed director of the Hofoper because Mahler was a Jew. Mahler was the best Wagner conductor of the time, but Frau Cosima didn't really have Wagner's music as a priority in this case. But to say that Wagner was a Nazi is ridiculous. Many people can't really tell where "Nazi" derives from so everyone who hates Jews is a Nazi. Coming back to Furtwaengler, there is a film ...

Naturally, but my comment addressed a characteristic of Wagner's persona that appealed to Hitler. His music is a separate issue.

Maybe he was an anti-Semite. The Nazism came half a century later! And by the way, that doesn't affect his entire artistical work as one of the greatest composers in history. Of course he had a lot of flaws (his tendency to waste his sponsors' money for example), like every human being has.But what counts in the end is his unrivalled oeuvre. He makes us happy and enriches our lives. We have to be very thankful.
