Better quality video than other 800m finals video. Dave Wottle gives us one of the most brilliant Olympic performances ever, or at least the most under rated one.

ahhhhh, no tattoos, earrings, gold rope chains, shades, arm tights, and contrived flag waving. these were the days when a guy knew he just won a foot race, not discovered fire.

I remember watching this race when I was 9. Dave Wottle made us yell and laugh at the same time because we were astonished beyond belief. I am glad I thought of this tonight while watching the Olympics and I just had to tell the girl about a great memory. I'm glad it's here to be seen again. Jim McKay and Chris Schenkl, bless 'em, those guys brought sports to life with their thoughtful commentary, and Wottle was one of the great moments that combined all of them! -- Stevo

I remember watching this as a little kid, but this video shows it as even more amazing than I remembered.

Every time I watch it I expect him to lose it, but he always wins.I like how calm they are afterward unlike today's over-the-top celebrations.
