I realize that you are not from America, my comments then don't apply to you Kartikandrao, I don't know what it is like in your country. Here, we are facing some serious financial ruin, that will affect everyone whether they know it or not. And these are what my comments are based upon, and conventional wisdom.

I mean, it is pretty self explanatory, if you know how to do these things, and most people only know how to sit in a cubicle and stare at a computer and analyze numbers, who do you think has a better chance of surviving an economic collapse? What can you trade with a person for food? Probably tangible items, not your skills as a laboratory scientist! Things you can make, and produce, which others know not how to do.

It doesn't help you make money, money will be useless don't you understand? We are facing the possibility of economic collapse, in such a scenario as in the depression, you could have an entire wheel barrow full of money and it would buy you only a loaf of bread. Learn to grow and make your own bread I say, so that you are beholden only to your own abilities, and these skills will be valued by others who lack them, which is the majority of americans who can't survive without a cell phone.

I suppose I mean, that it is a rare individual who knows these skills and all of them, but say you lived 80-60 years ago, chances are you had a better chance of knowing how to hunt, butcher, and store meat, ( I Personally don't know) you might have been able to make cheese yourself, and also grow your own food, I mean it depends upon where you lived, but it was more likely you would have known these things I think. |
