If they came out with these a little sooner then I'm sure they would have. Apple went over to Intel because the PPC chips couldn't give them the power they needed for their next line of systems, they were fairly stagnent whilst Intel were going ahead leaps and bounds. They didn't want there to be a massive gap in hardware power between Mac's and "PC's", so decided to use the traditional "PC" cpu's instead. It was a good move too, higher compatibility levels was a result.

IBM is still making innovations in personal computing... But I do not like apple's methods, apple hardware isn't as good as IBM, nor will I ever use it. IBM is simply the best and will always be the best.

The power6 IS a different processor, cell chips are made to be an all in one package, and power6s work in parallel

You may want to check out the software lineup from IBM. They are really far from gaving up on software ;).

ibm was smart,and gave up on software and personal computers when gates rolled along to jump over to hardware, apple needs to find something to call their own, unless thats Pc accessories ofc ><..
