Banker blackmail someone out before they themselves get exposed. Spritzer was investigating these bankers for fraud BEFORE the criminal bailout!

Good point. Based on this and the way he apparently treated his political rivals and targets, he's bordering on sociopathic. That could be one reason his wife is sticking with him. People like Spitzer have an instinctive talent for spotting people they can use and manipulate for their own purposes. And he's not the only politician that I believe to be sociopathic.
