agreed but they released this on a sort of b-sides bootlegs and covers album called sawdust with some great songs and a lot of covers, and it was dedicated to their fans and to be honest all their fans love it. i know i do, so they pulled it off i think. but i think if they actually released them as singles you would have reason for criticism

Good but the original Dire Straights version is much better: Mark Knopfler is not copyable, he's a better gitarist and singer. But than again its not easy to cover the Dire Straight eh....
