This is not how Janis usually sounds. I have the entire Woodstock show and her vocals are a little different than her usual form. However, even though she might have been stoned here, I think it's one of Janis' rawest and most incredible performances.

Absolutely she shot up and drank that day. She was an addict!!! I read many years ago, as I stated above that she was very sick with a cold. This is not typical of her voice. It doesn't mean that she wasn't able to convey the same gutsy, raw emotion that we love from her. Or that it wasn't a perfectly amazing performance. You must listen to much, much more of her live performances to realize that this is a different vocal performance from her.

I got that information from reading everything I could get my hands on about her because she was/is my fucking goddess. It was the late 70's long before all the misconstrued data of today's media. I have never felt such love & devotion to an artist as I do for her. I have listened to every possible recording, bootleg, live everything, etc. of hers to know her voice better than I know my own. Anyone can tell her voice isn't the same as usual. Who said it wasn't phenomenal nonetheless?

Thats not true,this is her typical voice,she wasnt ill,I think she had a shot before the performance,Ive read a lot about it...
