Deniro is so good here it's scary...literally, Pupkin is one real scary dude here! He's a psychopath!

I heard that Scorsese feels DeNiro gave his best performance in this movie. "The King of Comedy" never got the publicity it deserved, everyone in it was fantastic. Did you guys know that Rita (Diahann Abbott) was DeNiro's wife at the time? I also heard that Johnny Carson was offered the part of the talk-show host but turned it down because he didn't want to give anyone ideas. Jerry Lewis did a great job, his scene finding Rupert in his house was improvised.

My favourite DeNiro performance. Love this film.

His performance was like him playing the joker before he became the joker

C'mon hooper, Burgundy was definitely based on Pupkin, and whereas Raging Bull is quintessentially brilliant, this is just very good. Stop being a pretentious loner, film is a subjective medium, but not that subjective... |
