Maybe "legato" wasn't known yet where Sokolov learned to play the piano... :-) But i couldn't hold back my tears in the Scherzo and at the beginning of the Finale. What a pity that the rest went down like routine virtuoso power-play...

When the piano is played by Sokolov and it is seen from above it seems collourfull.

I wasn't too fond of his interpretation of the whole thing, but by god if it wasn't a completely flawless performance. And his playing of that last finale part of the whole piece was AMAZING. |
