I know what you mean. There were so many adaptations to the series after SIGN, legend of the twilight bracelet, .Hack//CELL, and so on, but none of them captured the deep feelings, well developed characters, excellent plot, and the amazing feel that was give to us by SIGN. The closest to come to that was .HACK//ROOTS, but even that didn't give us the same feeling, not by half.
