they actually stopped for fuel 4.3 times and had an average MPG of 19mpg. Read the Wired Magazine article of his cross country juornal and look at the images on the side..all the information is there

Actually this vehicle the BWM 144a has a Blinder M40 2 heads up front and 2 heads in the rear.

Can someone verify something for me? When he made his record run, it shows they only stopped for gas 2 times. The first time was in El Reno, OK which is almost 1500 miles from where they began. The problem I have is they filled up at they pumped 34.606 gallons of fuel in, and given the theory they began with a full tank, they would've gotten close to 43 MPG! I don't see how they got that good of MPG considering their average speed was 90 MPH. Anyone have any answers or speculations?
