Once again the US Army proves that it can care less about the safety of our men and women in uniform. Dragon Body Armor has been tested by the FBI, CIA, many police forces and everyone in the world agrees that it is the best, except of course the US Army. In a test for the History Channel's military show, "Mail Call", the vest repelled nine rounds of pointed steel ammunition from an AK-47 and 35 rounds of 9 mm, all fired into a 10-by-12-inch configuration on the vest. In "Test Lab", also on the History Channel, the vest withstood a total of 120 rounds, fired from both an AK-47 (7.62 × 39 mm) and MP5 (9 x 19 mm). In another demonstration on the Discovery Channel series "Future Weapons", a Dragon Skin vest withstood numerous rounds from an AK-47, an MP5, and an M4 carbine (5.56 x 45 mm), and a point-blank detonation of an M67 grenade. While the vest was heavily damaged (mainly by the grenade), there was no penetration of the actual armor. On December 7, 2006 a demonstrational shoot for the following departments took place on a 10" x 12" SOV-2000 Level III panel: Saint Charles Parish Sheriff's SWAT, Saint John's Parish Sheriff's SWAT, Gretna PD, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's SWAT, LaCruz Parish Sheriff's SWAT, Ascension Parish Sheriff's SWAT, Coast Guard Investigative Services, US Navy.A total of 17 rounds was fired into the panel without penetration. * 3 @ 7.62x51mm Federal Match * 3 @ 7.62x39mm Military Ball * 3 @ 5.56x45mm M193 Ball * 3 @ 5.56x45mm M193 Ball at 45 degrees * 2 @ 5.56x45mm M855 Green Tip * 2 @ 5.56x45mm Bonded M193 * 1 @ 7.62x51mm Federal BondedSo why does the Army refuse military men and women to wear this? Even if they purchase it themselves?

It was blown from BELOW with a grenade. Not to mention fragments from a grenade go in every direction, and it was not pierced one time. You fail.

The military has poor money management skills, which result in the idiotic refusal to buy what's best for those who need it most. The Navy recently spent billions of dollars on fantastic new bombers, but they didn't buy the bombs to go with them. So that's billions of dollars sitting in a base somewhere that is wasted until they get the appropriate ammo.

Soldier shot was an Army medic. He was wearing the old Interceptor armor with ceramic SAPI plates, not Dragonskin. He's already gone over the details on several military websites due to his celebrity status.

im not saying that its not good armor, im saying thats what they came up with in the process of banning this armor. btw i was wondering what the penetration difference is between a lead round and a steel round?

Not true have u seen Future weapons? They laid in on top of a frag grenade! And not a single piece of shrapnel penetrated the discs. and 99 percent of hits are from above or head on the only difference between interceptor and dragon skin is one uses plates the other layered discs

some soldiers have this and i saw a video were a dragunov sniper rifle shot a round into a soldiers chest, instead of dying,he popped up and took cover, they chased down the sniper and got him

WHY THEY BANNED THIS:when the armor is shot at from below, the shrapnel drove itself under and between the disc layers and penetrated. the discs also became dislodged and added to the shrapnel due to the force of the bullet wedging them out of there design.SO:it works untill your shot at from an unfortunate angle a little below head on...
