Everyone was laughing, but they didnt have mics, and it was a big room. You just can´t hear them.

Well if they're neutral and they laughed... Um... it would show they're not neutral. A lot of people were smiling though but they realized what was going on and the seriousness of it.

it was the outa get shot comment that I take exception to. I also think you may have missed the beauty of and irony of the entire thing. It was a one-time act of mastermind that will never happen again...you can bet your last maple leaf that every corespondent's dinner speaker will be well vetted in the future.

He was also surrounded by members of the press corps, who are supposed to be neutral.
