I had both CD 1 and CD 2 of Macross Plus soundtrack and this song wasn't on either one. Any one know why?

Aren't they simply the OVA and movie versions, rather than the "English version" and "Japanese version"? The original Japanese OVA was dubbed in English and in Japan is referred to as the "International Version", but I think the only differences (besides the dubbing itself) were a few song changes (the English version of the song "Voices"). The version you mentioned with new concert footage and Guld's extended death scene is actually just the movie version--it was just never dubbed in English.

Please note that I mention the movie edition in the original post. I finally managed to track down a movie edition recently, which is NOT easy in Australia, even with Ebay, and I definitely recommend watching/owning both. I purchased the original VHSs while finishing highschool in the mid 90's (except for ep 4, which was delayed), and getting the movie recently made it seem fresh all over again!

Exactly. There are two versions of this, each have their good points IMO. There's the ~2h movie edition (English sub) and then there's the 4x 1h episode version, which has English audio or sub.I have the movie and the 2nd DVD for the 1 hour episodes, really need to find the 1st DVD so I can have both versions.

Owning both versions of Macross Plus (english & Japanese dub) I believe they are both presented exceptionally. The concert scenes are different but both great in their own right. My personal favorite is the Japanese version Sharon Apple concert on Earth. Not only more in depth but the way the way Guld Bowman's death was shown portrayed that of a true soldier. Something very reveered in Japanese society.
