If BMW F1 fastest lap was about 5:57, it was 14sec quicker than Bellof's record, not 25sec. Anyway, thanks for the information, mate!

Bellof was a great race driver. RIP for the great man. But I do believe that F1 car is much faster than his Porsche 956. According to F1 Racing mag. June 2006, BMW engineers had estimated that a BMW-Sauber F1.06 could lap in under 5:15.8[52] which equals to an average of 237 km/h (147 mph).

Actually, some reports said that the BMW F1 was faster on the Nordschleife, a full 25sec clear of Bellof's lap record, about 5:57, breaking the track's six-minute barrier for the first time in history. Read Road&Track Magazine. But to respect the late Steffan Bellof long-time record, that laptime of Heidfeld was not included in the list.

There are old drivers and there are bold drivers but not that many old, bold drivers. A guy that quick just couldn't last. RIP
