Galamb Borong, Pour Irina, Arc-en-ciel are just another few of the very beautiful Ligeti etudes, as long as they are in the right hands! [Those are certainly not Banfeld's!]

cordes a vide is very beautiful piece. It epitomizes what I like about Ligeti. Avant garde, but still quite melodic and beautiful. You know, unlike Xenakis or Tokemitsu (I think that's what he's called). Also white on white doesn't seem too bad.

yeah it is a sorcerer's apprentice. "cordes a vide", "arc-en-ciel" and "en suspense" are not too hard, if you want one with a bit of speed then fanfares is easier than the zauberlehring.

I realized that months ago. But yeah. (It was translated on sheet music I borrowed from a friend). The piece, though not the hardest, is a mother to play. Maybe I can play "Der Zauberlehring" some day. I studied some German and I know that means an apprentice of something, like a magician or a sorcerer. :P
