I purchased the 64 bit DVD directly from Microsoft sight for my mother , They sent me a 32bit disc . They refused to allow the return of the (UNOPENED)32bit disc unless "I PAID SHIPPING" and added another $20 for a additional disc containing the correct 64bit version . I swear on all thats holy I will just retire fully from using a pc I will never bother with another Microsoft product. I wasted $200 on nothing .

OK, I bought a new retail version of Vista Home Premium 64 bit from Newegg. I did a fresh/new installation to a 250GB Drive on a Dell with a E6600(64bit processor)w/4GB. No/zero/nada Problems. This person did not know what they were buying. So his rant is pointless. Thank You.

You Dusch all that means on the side is that this OS will run on either a 32bit (Pre 64 AMD or Intel Chips) or 64bit (Current CPU's Dual Core, Quad Core etc), it doesn't mean your getting the 64bit version....Also if you were smart you would look on the front of the case in the upper left side and see what Version DVD you have (32bit and 64bit)... Also wtf did you buy the Upgrade Version....no wonder your system BSOD'ed...Never upgrade from XP to Vista...with a upgrade DVD!!!

I had used windows vista in 4 different computers and there is always a problem, bugs, problems with drivers and the list goes on...at this point I consider buying an apple instead, is so frustarring trying to get homework done and the Windows Vista f.... it over and over gain. Microsoft grew too powerful and they finally delivered a product that just does not work.

I have 8 Gigs and all is fine! Use the latest drivers/ bios versions (if you have problems)! Maybe he tried to run some old apps or incompatible programs! For example the last application that give me trouble was comodo firewall (BSOD)! But after I stopped using it everything was fine!BTW: I think your sources are old! (beginning of 2007) Compatibility issues were solved (drivers and apps)!

I've heard from multiple sources that 64bit is not very stable. I talked to a guy that has a 2.2Ghz Core 2 Quad with four gigs of ram and an Nvidia GeForce 9800GT or something like that and he said that it didn't run well and recommended that I didn't get it. |
