The 55 in the burn scene from A.G. was actually a Belair and had a 2x4 fitted into the door frame and painted black to make it look like a two door post. I actually prefer the version from two lane black top, but both cars are completely bad ass, the driving car from A.G. was the camera car from Twolane black top.

the windows in the 55 were sliding ones and had to be changed to roll downs for 'bob falfa' in fact the entire car was rebuilt for A.G. i prefer the A.G. version best :D

I love both these movies as well, this is probably the best scene of the movie in my opinion, and I found out that the 55 in A.G. actually had a 427 in it, and only a 409 in it in the model cars.

I'll bet you know one knows that the 55 chevy in this film, was the same car as in american graffiti, what I mean is it is "The same car" but in this movie, it was not a 454 as stated, it was a 427 BB, and in A.G. it was a 409 BB. So there is a little bit of trivia for ya!

Yeahhh okay then. I agree the car is badass but modern fuel injection is far better than a carb. The problem is the emissions mandates in this country have killed using the technology for anything but reducing emissions. I work on imports but I have a 56 Chevy so I see both sides of the coin.

totally agree buddy, a big block powerd 55 dont mess about :)

yeah I've since been corrected on that time. Still, it's crazy fast for a car built in '71.

Yea that was in 1971. To This Day that 55 Chevy ...as it was built in 1971.... would blow the doors off of any of these modern, computerized rice boxes or newer so-called muscle cars that pass for ... and I use the tern loosely here "hot rods"....Today. So Much for the addition of on board computers and modern technology being superior when proven 40 year old technology kicks its ass. The Drive car in this movie was also used in American Graffiti a couple years latter |
