NTU-CAE-Introduction of Computer-Aided Engineering Group

Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) group was officially established in 1997, offering graduate-level degrees in Department of Civil Engineering at National Taiwan University. Currently, three faculty members, approximately seven doctoral students, fifteen master students, and some research assistants are working closely on the following two major research areas: Computational Science and Engineering (CSE): CSE intensively utilizes computing power to help us solving engineering problems and elucidating fundamental physics behind these problems. As the 21st century unfolds, computer simulation, theory and experiment have now become the de facto and interconnecting enablers for engineering and science community to push the research and development frontier. In CAE, we seek for innovative breakthroughs on all aspects of CSE problems. Our current research topics focus on multiscale and multiphysics modeling problems. Multiscale modeling is in many ways to balance the desire for greater microscopic fidelity with the need for compact and efficient coarse-grained descriptions. Multiphysics modeling is usually related to novel engineering systems (e.g., NEMS, smart materials etc.) in which their structures or materials with coupled mechanical and electronic or optical behavior. Engineering System Integration (ESI): We test and develop innovative technologies to model, visualize, evaluate, and analyze the performance of multidisciplinary design and construction processes. We expect that ESI research projects will improve current construction projects by improving productivity, bettering jobsite safety, and reducing uncertainties. Currently, ESI-related topics include: intelligent construction simulation and visualization, knowledge management for life cycle information, the interaction between users and engineering software, and robotic applications for construction or maintenance purposes.The more detail you can find follows link: http://www.caece.net
