Everyone has that one thing they want to do before they die. Kiwis was to fly and he did! If the kiwi had to choose whether or not it died afterwards, I really dont think it would care. It accomplished his lifelong goal and would have died happy. After all, death is inevitable you might as well go out happy then alone, or painfully.

The kiwi is the same way all he or she (Im not sure the gender) wants to do is experience flying, sort of like a human wanting to go sky diving. The kiwi finally accomplished his goal, with the help of perspective, what else would have been left for the kiwi? It was the Kiwis lifelong dream to fly and it did? What would happen next? Have you ever heard the term life long goal?

It's not so much that he "had to die to make the point." Look at it in a symbolic sense, after a human completes his or hers lifelong goal what else is there to do? It's sort of like a butterfly, when the butterfly is a caterpillar all it does is eat and survive. Time passes on and the caterpillar becomes chrysalis. Finally, the butterfly emerges from the cocoon and begins eating and laying new eggs. After the butterfly lays its eggs it has completed its life goal and dies.
