Even after being scrapped 2008, she still holds the record to be the fastest (top speed 33,5 kn) conventional car ferry ever built. Beautiful ship R.I.P.

Suomalaisen laivateollisuuden ylpeys Finnjet on menetetty. Laivan paloittelu on alkanut Intiassa 12. syyskuuta 2008. R.I.P.

What was that guys name who appears in the film? It was Mathias something... He was as a cruise manager at the ship in the early 90´s when I travelled to Travemünde... Funny guy, I always remember his funny bingo act at the showroom :D

I can only hope that she will be saved from the scrapyards at Alang beach in the nick of time.

It`s a pity that a good ship is not in traffic anymore...But let`s hope that the Finnish try to save the ship will come off and Finnjet`ll be back again!

some details: 213 meters long, 25 meters wide, highspeed 30,5 knots (59,3 KM/h) 2 engines: diesel with 28000 hp and a turbine with 75000 hp. finnjet was the biggest, fastes car ferry AND crusie ship until 1987 or something...it did it´s first trip in may 1977 and did cruise on the baltic sea till 2005. it was very funny to be on that ship when it was doing full speed, the whole ship was shaking...just a view details! |
