Great video. Nobody believes it but it's really that quiet. I work the pits at Road Atlanta and I was at the Petite Le Mans Saturday and of course Allan from Audi won again. They are definitely my favorites.

Well, that depends, really. If they just updated it to meet rules, yes - very dumb idea. But an overhaul of the basic design could've worked. Most current LMPs outside of the R10 use an updated version of the R8's basic design. Audi would've had a better handle on upgrading it, and would've been a safer way to go. They took a big risk to create a whole new car with the R10, and lucky for them it paid off.Of course they HAD to have had a good feeling about it in order to take the chance.

The R8 really struggled in its final year at Le Mans though. It would have been dumb for Audi to update such an old car.

Yeah, but they were already laying a beat-down on EVERYONE at Le Mans with the R8 before they built the R10. If Le Mans was ALL they cared about, they could've just upgraded the R8.

Yup Audi built a diesel to show the world that they're not always the loud smelly things they're often thought to be. Oh yeah and they wanted to win Le Mans :)
