Buckley believes in interventionism for noble reasons and Chomsky seems to be more isolationist. Both great intellects and refreshing to listen to.

hahaha "did we impose when we intervened?" yes. by definition, yes. all parties were not asking for it. so to someone, there was imposing. buckley's a tool

Buckley was a thug who dealt in adjectives and inconcrete conceptualisms. Chomsky sticks rigidly to a philosophical anarchist code - that no man has any right over another. Though I'm personally more inclined to agree with Chomsky, I don't think the debate was won by either side, and, as good debates do, it spawns twice as many questions as it answes, and it does answer quite a few. Thanks for uploading.

I thought it was a win for Buckley. Buckley has defined an age in the real world. Chomsky has defined university education. Funny how Chomsky was talking about the real world. On a side note, does anyone notice how Bill O'Reilly has copied Buckley's physical mannerisms when he does an intellectual interview like the one with Dawkins?

it seems very clear that buckley is allowing his mind to operate in a rather theoretical conceptual local. chomsky obviously knows his history better and can stick to the reality of the relatively recent world actuality much more convincingly. buckley accuses chomsky of evading questions at one point but that is exactly what buckley does when chomsky raises valid criticism of his often wayward statements and grounds for the points he tries to make.
