No one is confusing this vocal performance with the Everly Brothers. Their connection to this song is that they were the first to record the song in 1960. It was written for them by their song writing team the Bryants.

Hey, you got that right! Let's see the detractors and critics get up there and try to sing the song to thousands of devoted fans worldwide for years and years. A pretty, smooth voice wouldn't have made this song the gigantic rock classic that it is. Karen Yochim

It's not the Everly Bros morons! The appeal was Naz's broken-hearted rough vocals to begin with...and it probably took 25 takes and numerous overdubs to get the radio/record version. Quit complaining and enjoy!

it's rare for rock vocal screamer's who push it to the nth degree to have a long lifespan. Dan is a shadow of what he once was as evidenced here, but he can still carry a tune for the most part. Also shows what heavy smoking of many substances does to your vocal cords when you try to sing in your 60's.

I am unclear what your are not sure about. My comment about his duet? I think in his youth, he and Janis Joplin would have made a hell of a duet singing something together. To me, their voices were quite similar and considering they were around at the same time, late 60's early 70's, it would be the right time for them to sing together, back in the day. Hopefully that clears up the confusion on my comment. Peace. |
