If your start is good after the first half, stay in your form swinging your arms hard, and let your legs take you through...

Take a break from running but hit the weight room and strengthen the core muscle groups throughout the year. Do drills like box jumps to stay agile. Make sure you consult a trainer or coach to lift and do the drills correctly! Dont bulk up so much that it slows you down!REMEMBER, stay positive and work hard. Keep it fun and don't let it get you down. Attitude is huge in track.

Also, try to throw in more endurance / distance training. 8-10 400s in between 65-70 seconds is a tough practice for most high schoolers. These are all high intensity to build your endurance. The most important one is to remember that even though track season is over, doesnt mean you can sit around.

First, its hard to say without seeing your race or your training. Ultimate decisions should be made by your coach. Also, I'm assuming you are older and can handle the training. Younger runners should really limit their training to stay healthy. However, theres a few things you could try.I always train my runners to race longer than their events. 100 runners practice the 150, 200 runners practice the 300.

im stuck at an 11.6 but my start gets me ahead the first 50 meters but then i lose the lead. any advice?

Relax at the line and practice starts. Remember that youve done it a million times before.Running is very fluid and if you tense the wrong muscles youre not only throwing off your form, but using much needed strength and oxygen.Without seeing its hard to say, but try relaxing your shoulders by lowering them, that is one common thing I see with my athletes. Get those arms moving too, they are key to your acceleration.
