"We see a lot of peace signs at our gigs these days, I just wonder whether or not they're just empty gestures so it's up to you to prove them..."

I'm from the States and love PW, but can someone translate that thick Woking accent at the intro for me? Something about a peace sign and empty gestures?

This is my favourite Jam song. It's still amazing.

Bullocks - Although I agree Weller was the driving creative force, without Foxton and Buckler, the Jam would never have happened. Foxton is one of the greatest/ under rated rock bass players - look who replaced John Entwistle during the Who's recent tour - Foxton. Weller is a musical tour de force, but don't short change Rick and Bruce.

As great as the Clash were, Strummer had Jones to fall back on. Foxton & Buckler were great but, really, Weller carried the entire load himself. No wonder he's sustained such a long and prolific career -- what a talent!Long live the Modfather!
