here's a properly mic'ed clip of this riff/setup: http://www.netmusicians.org/in... a quick and rough comparison b/t the two amps using the same riff. For each clip, I'm running a Maxon OD-9 out in front as a clean boost (drive-off, tone-11:00, level-1:00). No other effects. The same single cab is used for each clip. It's the cab on the left. For the individual amp clips, the amps are running mono through all 4 speakers. The last clip has both amps running in stereo, each through 2 speakers per side.Amp specs are as follows:Splawn Quickrod:50 watt modeSED Winged C EL34sv1&2 - stock jj ecc83sv3&4 - shuguang 9th gensgain ~ 3:00 (new taper)Gear 3OD1Splawn Nitro50 watt modeTung-Sol EL34Bsv1&2 - stock jj ecc83sv3&4 - shuguang 9th gensgain ~ 2:00 (new taper)OD1Splawn 412:Eminence GovernorSplawn Small Block 25(x-patterned)Guitar:Gibson Reissue 1957 Les Paul CustomSeymour Duncan SH-5 Custom**Please note that the video was recorded with a small digital camera (canon sd1000) so audio quality is limitedAlso, my timing is a bit off on the second half of the riffs. I just came up with the riff idea this morning and was still hammering things out =p******update - i stuck an sm57 in front of one of the eminence governors and did a quick recording of the riff/setup in the video, with one track per amp, panned hard left and right. you can find it here: http://www.netmusicians.org/in...

No, he doesn't. Dave Mustaine plays a custom Line6 head that is unavailable to the general public and the Splawn amps blow his live tone out of the water and then some.

there's also a link in the "more info" section to the right to an actual recording i did with the same setup/riff using a proper mic and technique. the tracks are raw, with no post EQ. just added a drum track.

you seem awfully concerned with posting here and bashing these amps. whatever man.but for those interested, this clip was recorded with a credit card-sized handheld digital camera so of course the sound quality is limited. i recently posted a newer comparison video with better audio quality. see above in the video responses.
