am I not a doctor either but from watching it, it looks like they are breaking the catatact up into small pieces and sucking it out with a mini vacuum so that the patient can see clearly again.

My mum had both her cataracts done, and it's changed her life (as it has millions of others) - before she saw everything through a fuzzy cloud, and now everything is clear and bright. Although the op looks brutal (especially when they 'hoover' out the old lens,and shove in the new one!) she didn't feel a thing.

A cataract is a clouding that develops in the crystalline lens of the eye or in its envelope, varying in degree from slight to complete opacity and obstructing the passage of light....this is not mine i looked up on wikipedia ok. ^^

ok i just asked my mom..she said it was like a mantle or a cloth that starts making itself inside your eye and it ceases you from seeing.i am not totally sure this is just wat she told me.
