well if its dubbed in or whatever, its a great dubbing. but i dont think it is because they have these little things you attach to the side of drums that pick up the vibration of the head. check out his toms. and the cymbal mics are probably just out of view.

When you can take his set and play everything he can play, and more, then I'll believe you on this, but I'm sure he could take a five piece if he really wanted to and do much better than you could on it.By the way, what band are you in? I don't think it's dream theater, and I don't think you're Mike Portnoy. Then stop claiming that he's not a legend, I don't think he's claiming to be one. He plays however he plays and you, and/or other dream theater fans will enjoy it or not.Deal with it.

I've tried playing on a huge set like Portnoy's but I can't do it because it's confusing as shit. Which is why I'm playing metal on a jazz setup... lol.Which is also why I look up to drummers who have big ass kits and use everything. But then again, I respect all musicians, period.

lol i highly doubt that it doesnt matter how many drums u have if ur able to make extremely unique rhythms like he can with out sounded repetitive them u are a good drummer also mike portnoy has an insanley good memory because a lot of thr songs r lenghty so once ur able to do that then talk other then that keep ur mouth shut when u know u arent that good and stop being so ignorant u chocolate fuck

alot of his beats you need the 'max stacks' to play them properly. he is all about writing drum parts to coordinate as perfectly with the music as possible thus having such a big drum kit. he could play this tune on a much smaller setup and still sound amazing. no amount of cymbals will make any one a better drummer! @choccookie i think your point is valid to a certain extent but in all fairness i am sure you know you are just looking for a reaction.
