Brahms deserves Rubinstein! I know a LOT of Brahms, but I confess I am just now discovering this piece. Lucky for me - as always, Brahms' craftsmanship and artistic integrity are beyond reproach. Love to hear him performed by an artist who gets him (AR).

Rubinstein retired from the stage in 1976 because he was going blind. This piece is recorder here in 1973, where he already had a lot of trouble with his eyesight. He's hardly looking at the keys here and just playing by heart and feeling, like he always has done. A true musician at work here.

No, he's just old and his eyes are so droopy as he looks down at the keyboard. But he is still the master, no question.

Is this video available? I mean, is there a DVD of this whole performance (I'm assuming it is a part of a series due to the production quality.)?

Questo Capriccio ce l'ho fissato in testa, l'ho studiato a memoria per l'ottavo anno. Cmq, è molto bello ma le Rapsodie mi piacciono di più.
