Awesome washer! If I could have one vintage washer, a top of the line 1-18 would be it! My mom in got her first automatic washer and it was an avocado 1-18 model and matching gas dryer. We were surprised by the sound of the agitation during the first load too. The gas dryer had frequent ignitor problems. It was bought the first year the 1-18 line was introduced (1971 I think). Mom's first choice was Maytag but they were on strike at the time and couldn't get the model she wanted.

The old Frigidaire Unimatics, Rollermatics, and others were good washers, but out of all the Frigidaire washers ever built (including the ones built in the 1980's to present), the 1-18's are my most favorite out of them all-they are such awesome washers!

I thought 1-18 was pronounced "one eighteen" instead of one to eighteen!

Great washer you have there. The plastic spring loaded cup inside the jet cone agitator is a bleach and dye dispensor but not meant for detergent. Maybe you know that but just in case you didn't I thought I'd mention it. You actually pour the detergent into the center of the agitator before putting the bleach cup inside.
