I'm shocked home birth could be illegal. We're set to have our home birth in 2.5 months (AZ) and appreciate your support for this issue.

Bravo Senator Loudon!Thank you for supporting what should under normal circumstances be viewed as a "natural" event versus a "medical" event.I had no idea that utilizing a midwife was illegal in your state - and it's a good thing I don't live there! Wow...As a woman who chose to have my 3rd baby naturally at home, I can say it was the most amazing experience in my life - and I wouldn't do it any other way.-Stacey Champion

I was shocked to discover midwives were illegal in Missouri 7 yrs ago when I conceived my son. I really wanted to have the experience of a home birth however, I did need to have a medically managed pregnancy and I had a wonderful physician. Moms care about their babies. They will choose the best option for the best outcome. Midwives are trained to know when to seek physician or hospital assistance. Thank you Senator Loudon for bringing reason back to the equation.

There are many doctors who do care for the actual mother & baby. In fact, I would venture to assume that most go into the field because they care. But when you turn it into a competitive issue with one against the other, that's when it becomes unfair.

I am not worried about lay midwives, but I am tired or hearing how physicians are all about profit and not about caring for folks. There is a great story in the New Yorker about modern birthing that I think is very fair.
