Hell, 300 HP was done in the 30s ... this is nothing BMW invented. The Cudas of the early 70s were in the 400s. Hp is nothing new, its how you package it, lighten the car, make it handle and make it stop. BMW has always been good at that, cept the weight thing. They are all damn heavy. Yes Yes, slam me and say they aren't, I have built enough street cars to road racers I know, they are damn heavy. Just like Mazdas.

The guy refering to the V12 is talking about the McLaren F1. and yeah Salei, i dont know why that guy would post "v6". V6 and BMW do not go together.

Saleli is right, the ///M1 ( 1979-1981 )is a 3.5 liter inline 6 that is producing 277 horsepower and 243 pounds of torque. This 3.5L (3.45 actual size)later produced over 300 horsepower back in 1988 with the M5, some car companies like Nissan and GM have just now began to match it's horsepower rating, it just took 17 years!

///M1 has 6 cylinder in line engine with 3500ccm. Not V12, not V6.
