Not true, it was a fully loaded aircraft flown by 2 pilots.The aim was to demonstrate the ALPHA-FLOOR protection mode, in which the computer recovers the aircraft from a low energy situation.The pilots did't take into account that this mode is inhibited at the altitude they were flying.They were basically waiting for the computer to take over and when they realized their mistake it was to late to recover.

1:17 - 1:30 was first fully computer controlled aircraft, no one on board, computer missed the run way.

Actually, that first crash was a test done to observe the structural strength of the aircraft. It was crashed intentionally. Still a neat looking crash.
