I was introduced to Mayfield by listening Hendrix ballads.He is the man.From Santana to Beck,all the great musicians covered his song.R.I.P

he plays fingerpickin'.... he fuckin rules!! RIP Mr. Mayfield. He played his guitar using open F# tuning, his guitar playing sounded like a piano... he is one of the greatest guitar inspiration for me, even tough he's not a hellraiser like Hendrix, Eddie Hazel and other guitar heroes...

Mayfield was active throughout the 1970s and 1980s, though he had a somewhat lower public profile. On August 13, 1990, Mayfield was paralyzed from the neck down after stage lighting equipment fell on him at an outdoor concert at Wingate Field in Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York.

Superfly was tha shit back in the day,Curtis Mayfield was one of the great classic soul guitarists of his era in 60's & 70's every thing he did w/Impressions & solo career was Marvalous indeed. |
