My Macbook Pro sucks. I give up. Apple won't fix mine either...I'm sure they couldn't care less, but I won't be giving them my money any more.

If you get the High Resolution 17 inch, it's LED backlit.

looks like them might be LED backlite screens , due to the led technology having problems with diffusing light at certain angles .. I have the same thing on my acer 8920G
