It's not about the style, it's about the message.

Human being began in Africa. The African man is the oldest. We have been here a long time. The world is not new to us. We are very creative. We created the pyramids, mathematics, Jazz, hip-hop, rap, rock & roll, soul, science. If you look everything that has been created in the world, we have a major influence on that creation. Don't be side track by your blind world. Remember, everything you see on television is no the truth. United States of America wants you to think that way.

Yes, my roots run deep in Tennessee...My Great grandfarther was born in 1870, 5 years after the civil war(1865).Of course, more than likely his parents were slaves.

"But I am still thirsty", nice.True Sand Pedlar, true.I wish this type of hip hop was still mainstream i.e. thought-provoking rather than body-provoking. Remember when it was? Here's hip-hoping it'll come back!

it makes sense to me that oppresed people would focus more on spoken word than music words are a powerful tool "yes we can"

No, it didn't begin in Africa. That's kinda the cool thing, is that hip-hop invariably blossoms, in every country, from that country's minorities. Germany's hip-hop, for instance, started with the Turks; the US's hip-hop came from black-Americans; France's hip-hop came from Algerians. Black-Americans aren't "Africans," but Americans oppressed.Don't believe the hype.
