well, its kind of cool.... but let me see you do 897x998 that would be way to much to deal with.. so therefor I will go ahead and use a calculator, cause as far as I know they work just fine...

It's not useful at all since a) the method isn't actually being explained at all andb) it's still faster doing it the regular way, i.e. (321x100) + (321x20) + (321x3)
