Cipollina was a psychedelic guitar player from San Francisco 60ies scene; he co-founded Quicksilver Messenger Service then went on to his own career with numerous bands. His style was unique and his personality both brilliant and modest. Here's his memorial website: johncipollina(dot)com I apologize i can't answer in Italian. Best to you

wow great stuff, they had it going.Chio was always one of my favorites, his work on the first Quicksilver still amazes me.Barry was real good on the first Fish album. I remember Bobbie playing that Ibenez after he put away the sunburst 335.

John Cipollina was not a drug addict, only smoked pot. He was born with emphysema & passed away from his childhood illness in 1989. You obviously never saw him play & judge the very few videos & music that is available. When John was in the "Quicksilver Messenger Service", they got mote gigs at the Fillmore almost any band back in the 60's & were paid the highest scale as they were the number one band. Bill Graham personally introduced them as the grandfather of the San Francisco Sound.

That has to be the most ignorant comment i ever got on my channel! A word of advice: if you don't like it, stop listening! A bon entendeur salut.

I know this might piss off some people here, but I think Cipollina is the most overrated guitarist to come out of the San Francisco/Summer of Love scene. He looks great but has awful vibrato, and plays really elementary, naive psychedelic solos. I've been listening to him for 40 years and I just don't get it. He sounds like Sam Andrew on too much acid, whiskey and pot. He probably is.

Thank you, Weir4ever...Saw Fish & Chip once, in '88 at the Saloon, in SF. Never seen a better rock show--I was 6 ft. from the guys, Dryden on drums, but Albin wasn't on bass that evening. In between sets, stepped out into the alley for some "Fresh Air", twisted my ankle. Back inside, the music ruled me so much that I danced like a maniac. Next day my ankle was watermelon sized!! No regrets;sure miss ol' Chip.
