nice video, I have the same car, are you on LT?

Imagine you are slowing down using your brakes and in 5th gear going about 45 mph, you can't just put it in neutral at that speed and use your brakes to stop the car. Simply your engine is more prone to fail in idle and leave you with no power for brakes than it is in gear at a higher rpm range.

I am not talking about racing here but just driving in traffic. There is nothing wrong with downshifting to slow the car down as long as you rev match and most of the time in traffic you have to anyway.

watch some of the japanese d1 video's, there foot work is crazy fast.not bad video.

Actually, to downshift smoothly when passing, rev matching is advised (especially during track driving).

Heel and toe is used to downshift before entering a turn. If all you want to do is downshift to pass another car, you dont do heel and toe.

I thaught heel and toe was mostly used when changing down two or more gears.[like after a straight] I didnt know it was used in short sharp downshifts with a short push on the break. Any advice??

I would somtimes have a broblem doing this with certian cars being that the Gas pedals are short and my foot misses the paedal,The easiest car ive found to do this with is my Moms BF E36 BMW.The pedal goes all the way to the floor and ive never missed the gas pedal in that car. |
