Jesus says to his disciples that whatever they agree on, it will be made into law in heaven as well. This shows how God inspired and approved of what the elders of the Christian community agreed upon. Therefore, it would be wrong to criticize what they agreed on. It would be pointless for someone today to come and change Christian creed and practice (like Jehova's witnesses).a problem today is that the elders are not trying to agree, but to force divisions and groups, even among the Orthodox.

But something which is God inspired can not be criticized. And there are no opinions on theology. It either is or it isn't or it's a mystery such as revelations.

There is an inherit danger in all dogma, because by its nature it forces itself and does not allow itself to be criticized. That being said, I agree that the Orthodox Church has been less imposing that Roman Catholicism. In fact, the wonderful thing about Orthodoxy is that opinions were not dictated by a central figure (the Pope, Muhammad, etc), but presented in councils and debated upon.

Orthodoxy can not overwhelm with dogma. It can not unbalance it can only perfect. To suggest other wise is to suggest God has implimented a faulty Church. Though we as humans are imperfect, the Church is because the Church is the Body of Christ.Nationalism, culture, they can be healty things but above all is Orthodox, and not as a substitution of nationalism, but as a way of life, to be truley faithful to the Orthodox Christian Faith, To God Father Son and Holy Spirit.ICXCNIKABBBB

The most amazing emperor ever was Ioannis Komnenos. Followed by his father Alexios and by his son Manouil. Ioannis ruled for almost 40 years within an extremely hostile environment and ruled wisely. He is said to be the olny emperor who never used violence to remain in throne or maintain his empire. His nickname was "Kalogiannis" (john the good)

Nice video but you should also include John VI Kantakouzenos. He was one of the greatest emperors in my opinion.

well, as in all my videos, I try to conjure the feeling that is evoked by that era instead of just facts. The Palaioloi's reign was short-lived (which is why I spend only a third of the video on them), and the threat of the Turks evokes a certain apocalyptic anxiety, which is why I made the central point of view through Michael, the angel that will fight the devil at the end of times. |
