It is mostly for when using suppressors the gas needs to be adjusted to keep the firing rate normal.

Mate im in the midst of tranfering to airforce (ADGIE) and i think i can say that we both no that we aint going to get any new weapon anytime soon and from what i heard it was going to either be the m4 (but something was said about that we couldnt get the production rights) or the canadian version of the m16 well thats what i heard but yea proberly be 20 years before it comes i remember when i was at kapooka my secco said he wished we had of kept the SLR he said its better than the steyr lol

I love the design. Field strip look remarkably simple. Adjustability looks great, operates smoother because the charging handle is on the fore-end and you can use the bolt catch for faster reloading and It has various calibers so no mather which round the military decides to use it's a few cheap parts. Interchangable parts between varients is nice and here's the best part.. Made in America. What's not to like about this weapon?

vary interesting, i like the over-all layout of the controlls and the look of the weapon, but what does the gas-shut off do? would that make the weapon manualy-operated like cocking the bolt for each shot perhaps for a mission wear silenced weapons are needed and the racking of the action could be a problem? please explain.

I like the placement of the charging handle, much more stock options. One of the best features is the interchangeability of barrels, stocks, and calibers.

just like you i loved the 6.8mm and the 7.62x39 but they both good for only 300mthe 7.62x51 good for 800m but the new 6.5x39mm is good up to 1000m and unlike the 7.62x51 20 rounds the 6.5 comes with 26 rounds !!

What I'm hating is the fixed stock appears to have no LOP adjustment. I'm in the Aussie army and we are looking at a new rifle (we currently use the Steyr A2). Either this or the SCAR are my picks in 6.8 and 7.62

The 7.62 is a much harder caliber to control in full auto, though, especially the NATO version of the round. That's the reason why the AK-47 have a lower hit rate than the M-16. It's a good caliber for a DMR. The 5.56 is really destructive, though, too. It can still kill whatever it hits.
