You can do something like this in Zelda: OoT. You tilt the cartridge to "crash" the game, and then enter a combination of buttons to get a few screen of debug information.

I heard there was this cool trick where you could card tilt Conker's Bad Fur Day and it goes into debug mode, but you need to type in the code first.

You're tilting too far. The game shouldn't crash if you don't pull it out all the way.
