Any helicopter that has a tail rotor would have the same failure with induced oscillations like that. The 53 is a tough bird, but when you screw up, you pay for it.

Nope, this tail failed slightly in front of the hinge. The hinge point is rarely where the failures occur. This was PIO (pilot induced oscilation) which gets amplified through the AFCS (automatic flight control system) when slinging. They should have dropped the load and or punched off the AFCS. This was an Israeli CH-53. Anyway, the majority of our (H-53) tail failures happen forward of the hinge point since the hinge point is so strong.
