Carvins are nice. I plan to get one soon.I played a Les Paul Standard which cost over $2000 and I wasn't impressed. I refuse to pay for a premium for the name of the guitar.

most people are turning to les paul copies ever since gibson raised the prices and lowered their quality control

Yes, that's very true about many of their guitars, especially from the early 80s thru mid 90s. Ebony fretboard contributes, but also on some models, the maple through body neck, and the bridge pickup being so close to the bridge, are all combining factors in the brightness of many Carvin guitars. Their modern line, however, includes design features that lend to warmer tones.

I watched this again and it sound like you can order this with a Rosewood board. I would like to hear that once. Have you heard one yet?

Tone is subjective, and I think Carvins are good sounding guitars too. They are a bit bright and brittle sounding compared to a Les Paul(a good Les Paul) because of the ebony fingerboards. I have had a couple of DC's and a bolt so don't think I haven't given Carvin a fair shake. I just don't see anything special about a Les Paul copy style guitar. Why should Carvin jump on the Les Paul Style bandwagon now??? BTW I have a vintage XB 60 with NOS RCA tubes and it is nice too. BTW,Im not gay..
