Well, "chap", Ska came first, and the British ska wave was not the first. Check out the Skatalites or Desmond Dekker.

yea and also, reggae was derived from ska, a common misconception, i never knew until a few years ago

sayin that the english is superior in music making and i am english myself so natrually i have to agree. but i want to say that ska music was britains version of reggae. but it is a lot more up beat
