Karl is real, there is proof if you listen to the shows with Russell Brand. In a podcast Karl accidentally sends a message to ricky saying "i'll meet you at 9 for the facial no bum tubes though." He actually intended to send it to russell, this is proved when they talk about the facial on russell brand on 6music covering for nemone. Ricky and Russell share the same first letter of their names.

the fact that he reuses jokes makes me think he's real. it's as if Ricky has egged him on to make some stuff and he's just an ordinary bloke who can't think of much to say.
