Very true buddy. This guy is damn rough on snakes. He's got no respect on them at all.He recently got bitten by a cobra and he was pissed with the snake. Well according to the way he was pissed I'm not sure whether he killed it.

i get what ur saying but we actually do have gaboon vipers in eastafrica, jst thot id let u know

I don't question his love of snakes. That said, the show is so staged it's absurd, with embarrassingly executed stunts and laughable subplots. He takes captive animals and portrays them as wild, such as the West African Gaboon viper he "captured" in East Africa -- whoops -- while swinging from a vine Tarzan-style. He is reckless, handles animals roughly, and agitates them to get a reaction. I've seen him get envenomated twice, break lizards' tails, and needlessly stress all sorts of animals.

Austin Stevens is one of the best and most revered snake handlers, herpetologists, and conservationists in the world. He served in the South African army doing decisive work in removing venomous snakes from trenches. With is skill he saved hundreds of lives. He also set a world record, in the plight to save African Gorillas, by staying in a venomous snake-filled tank for 107 days and nights. Truly worthy of respect. And you, mittlevitch are dead wrong.

My comment was addressed to you, mattlevitch.

What you have said is seriously outrageous. Austin Stevens is one of the most respected snake handlers in the world, and never have I ever heard of or seen any instance in which he has injured a snake. You seem to misinterpret the style of his shows as well.He doesn't handle snakes carelessly. He's passionate about snakes and all animals. How many snake handlers have you heard of that have touched every cobra species on the back of the head? You know I'd say you're the idiot. |
