back in the day i think about 1986, buddy ingersoll scared the pants off of these ihra mountain motor pro stock teams with his 238 cubic inch twin turbo v6,almost beating bob glidden in the final with his 800 cubic inch ford, quite a few teams went to the ihra officials and eventually had him and his buick gn banned so much for your mountain motors also if the nhra were to have the same rules as ihra the nhra teams would dominate pro stock, their top fuel dragsters, funny cars are the fastest

More like 800 plus with the IHRA pro stocks lot of them usin hemi syle heads some on chevys . and both IHRA and NHRA cars weigh in at 2350 pound with driver on board
cer002 (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
ihra also uses 700ci motors when nhra prostock uses 500ci motors with weight restrictions.

I like NHRA pro stocks And IHRA but IHRA is runnins 6.20's At 220 plus NHRA Are just now running 6.50's 210 IHRA ran that years ago. With the R&D they put in 500 cub cars they should bump them up to 600. I belive that would get an IHRA prostock A run for they money.

big blocks should run good ,, when u hear a screaming fast small block blister a pass ,u know its special ,gimme the days of modifed production 292 cu in motors that left the line at 11,000 and shifted at 10,000,, seems like everything is extreme now , out of reach and out of touch , i think the powers that be haven't kept things the way they should , but thats me ,, costs are so crazy ,, its not who is the best its who has the most money, but maybe the best keep digging for more money ??

Well, the days of high winding big blocks are here. I'd rather have a big block that spins 9500-10000 over a 327 anyday....

For one, IHRA mountain motors are 300 inches bigger, so a half second isn't that great to me. Not very impressive in my book. Second, NHRA pro stock motors are more refined and cost a bunch more to purchase. You can get a mountain motor for about 80K vs NHRA pro stock for 250K. That's why the inches are so much bigger in IHRA so they can compete.
