Don't be stupid; at that time the recording equipment they had was "decent". Besides, hostility has always been a necessary part of human nature since primal times, and will likely continue, you shouldn't really be surprised, embarrassed, or ashamed.

thats totally untrue. The japs were gonna fight to every last man before they gave up home islands. There was no way they were going to surrender without an invasion or us dropping the nukes. End of story. Theres no way we could hide such a secret for so long

You're right I did actually see a documentary talking about that since i posted. They said Japan was trying to surrender all summer but the US ignored them and still dropped the nukes. I don't think the scientists are to blame though, they were being paid to do a job and if they didn't do it somebody else would. Nuclear technology can be beneficial to us, for example nuclear fusion could one day serve as a viable replacement for fossil fuels on a large scale anyway.

Go read some non north american bullshit. Japan was surrended but U.S should use their nuke to test its power and justify the amount of money used in research. Some of that research was made with German Nazist scientists called to U.S with the promisse of fogiveness about their crimes and the change was "help" U.S with their nuke development.

Russia was smarter then, because they bullshitted and bluffed their stockpiles, while the US kept building to exhorbitant numbers. I guess its not strange though, your right.

What's strange about it? They were being paid by their respective governments to research and build "bigger" nukes. Although the destructive power isn't so important now because there are so many nukes it would lead to MAD, at the time only a handful of nukes existed and so it would of been important to show a high yield to ward off any would be enemies.Remember it was "these devices to the doom of us all" that arguably ended the second world war by causing Japan to surrender.

How strange, the compulsive need of these pricks to constantly research and build bigger nukes, as if it mattered whether 1 or 5 miles was utterly destroyed.
